Development of a Radar Detection and Discrimination Algorithms for Different Types of Clutter

A detection and discrimination radar algorithm was designed for the SBX radar to detect a reentry vehicle (RV) in dipole clutter but has also been successfully tested on other forms of clutter. The algorithm detects the RV, and then identifies the RV’s motion as precessing, spin-stabilized, tumbling and other, and then it determines its motion parameters. It has a very low false alarm rate and it has undergone extensive development testing by Anacapa Associates, Anacapa North and third parties.
