Scaling of Observables

Many experiments and tests can be performed with subscale objects, resulting in orders of magnitude savings in funds and time.  The connection of the results of subscale tests with full scale tests is called scaling.

Anacapa Associates has developed a large number of scaling laws and rules, applicable to radar and optical measurements both in free space and during reentry of hypersonic objects:

      Maxwell equations scaling

      Static radar cross-section scaling

      Infrared observables scaling

      Electron density scaling

      Plasma radar cross-section scaling (both
overdense and underdense)

      And others.
